One check off our summer fun list: kayaking for everyone!
Joey had his black belt ceremony today. We raced back home from the lake and went. It took 3 weeks to get the belt shipped in from Korea. It was a huge ordeal. There was a candle lighting ceremony, a tea ceremony and then handing over the belts to the kids. I had a high school girl who loves photography take pictures for me. Here are a few from my cheap camera...
this is his new black belt and uniform
Here is instructor is congratulating him
Here he is in his new uniform
We then sped down to Evanston to watch Joey's best friend, Grace, play flute at the Chicago Institute of Music at Northwestern Univ. Chicago has this competition each year to find the best fluteist, pianist, classical guitarist, cellist, violinist, and viola player. All the winners played in this concert. It was ages 8 up to 14. Joeys friend Grace won for flute and I have to tell you I felt like I was watching something like "amazing children's talents show" It was INCREDIBLE. I wished you all could have seen it. The boy who played the violin was 10 and was a concert master for Chicago's youth orchestra. I have never in my life seen anything like it. The talent was amazing. The kids were glued to the entire performance. Grace is going to New York tomorrow to play piano at Carnegie Hall. She is really something to see. Her feet don't even touch the pedals on the piano she's so little.
Joey's sleep over birthday party............. ARRIVAL and CAKE
All the boys on the couch getting ready to go down stairs and watch movies all night
