More adventures!!

Well, I have been looking for a new part time job.

6 days a month at the hospital is not cutting it.

John said for me not to waste my time on jobs that aren't in my field of study.  I need to get out there and work for non profit organizations.

Problem:  No one is hiring.

So,

I signed up to volunteer 2 days a week at:

The Red Cross
red cross

And Caris Pregnancy Center

Maybe I will get a job eventually if I can prove my self worthy to keep.

The Red Cross asks you to be on call 1 day a week for 4 hours in case of an emergency/tragedy in Chicago.  I also signed up to be in Administration and help with Family Case Work.  I am awaiting their call.  Their office is in the worst part of Chicago....by the United Center.  But, if I am going to go into Social Work I might as well take the plunge.

Caris Pregnancy center has 4 clinics.  They are a Christian organization.  1 of them is by the Woodfield mall in Schaumburg and the other one closest to me is in probably the worst part of Rogers Park on the North side of the city.  I signed up for either one.  They teach you how to be a counselor for unwed pregnant teenagers and also to do administrative work as well.....which I have a ton of experience in from Home Instead Senior Care.  I could probably do any Human Resources work available.  I guess Home Instead wasn't a complete waste of my time.

So, the adventures begin.

I did get an A on my paper and my Anthropology exam.  I just took my 2nd exam over the weekend and wrote my 2nd paper.  One more paper and exam and I am done with that.

My girlfriend (who is younger than me by the way) came over with her Algebra 2 book to tutor me through math.  I am taking Macro Economics this summer and it has math involved.  So, I will be working on math problems every night for a while.  She asked me what level I was at in math.  I told her, "I can add, subtract and divide whole numbers.  I think that's about all I know."

She laughed.

She's an engineer by the way.

She'll be nice to me.  I'm glad she is taking the time to help.

That's about it.  We did clean our house last week over spring break.  I told John to clean up the "piles".  He did....he moved them to the garage.

I could have a heart attack looking at my garage completely filled ground to ceiling with junk.  But I just keep taking my medicine and focus on reading my anthropology.

On a final note, Joey came up to me this morning and asked me to smell him.  I asked him why and he said his class has a new seating arrangement and he is sitting by Laura now.  I suppose I will be sniffing him all quarter.

I think mom is coming for Easter.  We shall see if it comes to fruition....

 That's it for now.
