Baseball Finally Started! (it stopped raining)

Baseball season is here.  This is our first game.  John is coaching here and Johnny is standing to the left of him.  It is so windy on this field.  We are playing on the top of Northbrook's sledding hill all season(yes they managed to put a field up here) and people are chasing their folding chairs, umbrellas and snacks blowing across the fields during the entire game.
When I got to the field, I saw Johnny pitching.  Makes me so nervous.  I had no idea they were going to put him out on the mound the first game of the season.  I have to say,  he played an unbelievable game.  He pitched the first 4 innings and only 2 kids got a hit off of him and no one scored.  He struck them all out.  John was grinning from ear to ear.

He hit well too.  He made it on base and scored every time up to bat.  It was a great confidence booster to him.  After the game 2 different Pony A coaches asked him to fill in for a few games where they had missing players this weekend.  He was enjoying the glory : )

John and I went to a benefit at CHA last night.  It was a lot of fun.  We bid on several things but only won 1.  It was the one we wanted so we were happy when we left.  We got a day of sailing on  Lake Michigan with the 4 kids.  We didn't tell them yet.  They will be so surprised.  It was a large sailboat that a teacher at the school has a time share on and they are taking us-leaving Morgan harbor in Chicago and ending up at Buckingham Fountain at Grant park in the evening so we can watch the fireworks on the boat.  I think they will love it.

I love my job in Rogers Park.  I have found some amazing hole in the wall restaurants and am bringing home incredible 1 dollar tamales, Peruvian food etc.  I would move down there in a minute if I could.  John is enjoying all the different dinners I'm bringing home.

That's it for now.  Going to church and then we have 2 soccer games and a baseball game.  Long day but it is beautiful out and so I'm sure it will be fun.

Bye!
