Well, I went to a sleep over last weekend! Yes, I said a slumber party for a bunch of grown women.
It was an amazing bunch of women-16 in all- that LOVED to worship.
We worshiped for 48 hours straight. (6 hours of sleep) and a few 15 minute breaks to eat.
We all had a bed, some chores to do, (cooking and cleaning up)...my South African friend Chloe hosted and made a chore list...
I knew only 6 women. These other women were from an Assembly of God church and I learned a few things.
1. you can sing with or without a scarf over your head! Either way is fine!
2. you can sing the words to the song or make up your own! Either way is fine!
3. you can sing super loud or soft! Either way is fine!
4. you can pray quietly or pray so loud the floor shakes! Either way is fine!
5. you can pray over anyone you want during worship or just stand there! Either way is fine!
6. you can dance or sway or stand still! Either way is fine!
7. you can shout out scripture to the top of your lungs or say it softly! Either way is fine!
8. you can speak in tongues quietly or you can pray in English! Either way is fine!
9. you can prophesy or receive the prophesy! Either way is fine!
I left DRAINED...........it was amazing, interesting and I can't forget about the retreat.
I came home, told the family and Hannah spoke up and said, "mommy, i have been praying in tongues for a long time now. I just never told you. I do it every night in bed. I can even do it in my mind. I asked God to show me how when I saw it on TV and i can do it."
I was floored........my 8 year old daughter has been praying in tongues for 3 months and never told me.
I asked her why she never told me and she said, "it's between me and God Mom. i like the way it feels. it starts down in my belly and bubbles up out of my mouth. i feel filled up by God every night."
I don't know what else to say..............
I will now go pick up my pentecostal daughter from ballet........
