Last day of school & first day of summer

The last day of school was Tuesday.  I cried.  I always cry because it means it's just a little bit closer to Johnny going off to high school and the kids getting older.

Here is a video clip of the last day.  It's mostly of Holly's class because I was sitting closest to her..It was a great ending to the year.

The first day of summer was today.  Holly made a new video : )

We went to the beach this morning.

The girls wanted to stay and Johnny was bored and wanted to go home.

NOTE:  There is a reason the beach was only 100 bucks for the summer per family....

This is what we walked on to get to the water.

We are used to going to Glencoe beach right down the street from us which is all soft sand and boulders to jump off of in the deep area and big waves to jump in....

Here...not so much....

Of course it costs us 50 bucks every time we go to Glencoe beach....thus the 'great deal' I got on the Highland Park beach pass....

The kids made sand...I mean pebble castles at the waters edge..

I am still dragging them down there at least twice a week to get our money's worth.  The lake is gorgeous--cold--but gorgeous to look at none the less.  I guess lesson learned...

I also used our fire pit tonight.

I had visions of the kids, John and I sitting around making S'mores and singing.

John was instructing me how to make a fire, he then was instructing the kids on why they shouldn't burn their marshmallows (they like them that way) and then he couldn't find the chocolate he had hid.  So Joey ended up in his room for smarting off and so on....

We decided to sing songs so Johnny ran in to get his guitar.

I couldn't figure out where John went.

He was in taking a shower and getting ready for bed.

I told him it was 'family time' and he needed to come out for our 'sing-a-long'.

He said he was tired and needed to go to bed.

Johnny, Hannah, Holly and I sang a few songs and then the mosquitoes came out.

That was the end of our family time.

I went in disappointed and told everyone to go to bed.

That concludes our first day of summer.

The end.
